Yamaha has become the final MotoGP manufacturer to introduce ‘leg wings’, debuting the rear aero at this weekend’s Jerez round.
The seat-mounted devices were first pioneered by Aprilia, before being adopted by Honda, KTM and – from the previous COTA event – Ducati.
Yamaha’s initial version appeared on the factory bikes of Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo.
“I tested some rear aero, some rear wings, and we need to keep working with that, and also try it in the Jerez test on Monday,” Rins said.
“But so far it was not so bad – I will keep it for the rest of the weekend.”

Pramac riders Toprak Razgatlioglu and Jack Miller could get the chance to try them during Monday’s official test.
The use of leg wings was in doubt due to a possible ban on safety grounds for 2026.
However, the devices remain legal until at least the end of the current season.
Despite shorter straights at Jerez, Yamaha’s new V4 has continued to struggle with wildcard Augusto Fernandez the top M1 qualifier in 16th.

However, mid-race rain in the Sprint race helped Quartararo charge from 17th to seventh.
