Parramatta hooker Tallyn Da Silva is likely to spend time on the sidelines after he was sin binned for a tackle gone wrong against Manly.

With the match at Brookvale Oval slipping away from the Eels in the 60th minute, Jake Simpkin ran out of hooker and was tipped past the horizontal by Da Silva.

“This tackle’s gone wrong, horribly wrong,” caller Brenton Speed said on Nine.

Billy Slater explained Da Silva’s timing led to the tackle.

“This can happen when you lift at the wrong time and the momentum is going against you … he didn’t need to lift, he got caught in an awkward spot there,” he said.

Andrew Johns added it was “all accidental” before referee Peter Gough sent Da Silva to the bin.

“It’s the right decision, not a send off,” he continued.

Manly was leading 23-6 at the time with winger Jason Saab scoring two minutes after the sin bin.

The Eels managed to peg back a try through Mitchell Moses with 12-men but once they were back to even, the Sea Eagles scored again through Clayton Faulalo.

Eels prop Charlie Guymer was last to score following some crafty work from Da Silva who claimed the try assist. The final score was 33-18.

Manly’s dominant second half came after an even first 40 minutes with a Jamal Fogarty field goal right on the break, splitting the sides 7-6.

The match review committee will have a busy evening and morning following the match with three players put on report. Da Silva was one while Moses also faces a possible fine for a high tackle.

Haumole Olakau’atu was put on report twice too, both times for high shots.

Dylan Walker and Corey Waddell were ruled out with injuries too.

Walker was captured in a sling on the sideline after not returning post half-time. The Eels currently have nine players in the casualty ward.

Next week Parramatta plays the Warriors on Saturday while Manly is up against Penrith on Sunday night.
