Anthropic has appointed the former local head of American software firm Snowflake to be its first Australian general manager, where he will be charged with establishing the commercial operations and negotiating with the Albanese government over establishment of local data centres.
The company said Theo Hourmouzis began with the company on Monday, and his appointment was announced shortly after co-founder and chief executive Dario Amodei visited Australia to open its local operations and meet with the government to discuss the potential for data centre investment.
