TWO-TIME National Sports Sedan Series victor Darren Hossack is set to be united with the twin of one of his title-winning steeds when the 2026 season kicks off this weekend at Winton Motor Raceway.
For the outing, Hossack will once again team up with John Gourlay aboard a Chevrolet-powered Audi, albeit in a newer iteration than the one he used to win the 2008 series.
It is planned that both the new and older versions of the Audi will hit the track this season.
Hossack’s maiden Sports Sedan title came with Gourlay back in 2004 with a Saab 9-3 Aero Chev, while more recently, mark one of the Audi A4 propelled Jordan Caruso to the 2022 title.
For the Victorian, the meet is a step back into big V8-powered machinery.
Following a storied career in karting, Hossack was elevated to V8 Supercars in 1997 and ’98 with Gibson Motorsport, with a highlight being a sixth-place finish at Bathurst in ’97 with Steve Ellery, the highest-placed rookie in the 1000km race.
He backed up a year later to finish seventh with Darren Pate, while he claimed eighth from the two Sandown Tickford 500s he contested at that time.
After racing at Bathurst in 1999 with Paul Romano and the 2000 enduros with Kmart Racing (Terry Finnigan and David ‘Truckie Parsons), his final V8 Supercars starts came in the 2003 long-distance races alongside Adam Macrow at Ford Performance Racing.

Outside of tin tops, Hossack has some notable credits to his name, including the 1992 Victorian Formula Ford Championship, the first title for local constructor Spectrum, while he twice won the Australian Superkart Championship.
Other entries in the field this weekend include Nick Smith (Mazda RX-7), Brad Shiels (Fiat), Aidan Monger (Nissan Silvia Chev), Steven Lacey and Mike Rowell (IRC GTSS).
For the outing, the National Sports Sedan Series will combine with both the New South Wales and Victorian Sports Sedan Championships, headlining the third round of the Vic Trophy Tour season with three races across Saturday and Sunday.
Other categories enlisted for the meet include Historic Touring Cars, Formula Fords, the Porsche 944 Challenge, Saloon Cars, Formula Vee, Improved Production, and AU4, with the racing action to be broadcast on Blend Line TV.
