BUTTERS SPEAKS ON FUTURE

Port Adelaide superstar Zak Butters has the most sought-after signature in the AFL.

But the big-name free agent says he’s no closer to make a decision on his future.

Butters is being widely circled by Victorian clubs trying to lure the gun midfielder back home, with the likes of Geelong and Western Bulldogs seen as frontrunners.

The 25-year old’s looming multimillion-dollar payday could make him the highest paid player in the game.

Not that it’s front of mind for the stand-in Port skipper right now.

“Nothing’s really change,” Butters told reporters on Monday.

“I feel like, yeah, the end of season will probably be when I make my decision and I think I’ll be sticking to that all year.

“I’m really enjoying my footy right now, seeing these young kids come through. And I feel like we’ve got a few boys still to come back in with Connor (Rozee) and a few boys still missing, so I think the future is pretty bright.”

As Butter is a restricted free agent, the Power have the ability to match any offer he receives and force a trade.

SUNS TABLE KING OFFER

Gold Coast has tabled a lucrative two-year offer to free agent Ben King as it looks to fend off rival offers.

AFL Media reported the Suns’ offer to King, the current Coleman Medal leader with 26 goals and the top key forward free agent set to hit the market.

The 25-year old is believed to have interest from multiple clubs including Collingwood, Hawthorn and Geelong, in a bid to bring the former No. 6 Pick back to Victoria.

A two-year extension could take King, currently a restricted free agent, through to unrestricted free agency in 2028.

Whereas right now the Suns could still match any offer he gets.

King has previously signed three two-year extensions with Gold Coast.
