Scottie Scheffler will have another temporary caddie on the bag this week.
Scheffler, the world No.1 and leader of the FedEx Cup with two weeks left in the PGA Tour season, was forced to make a late change on Sunday at the St Jude Championship after usual bagman Ted Scott had to leave Memphis due to a personal matter. Filling in for Scott was Brad Payne, the tour’s chaplain and Scheffler’s personal friend, perhaps best known for looping for Scheffler the day after his arrest at last year’s PGA Championship. Scheffler ultimately finished T-3 last week, one shot out of a playoff at the tour’s first postseason event.

However, at this week’s BMW Championship in Maryland, Scheffler is turning to Mike Cromie to be his partner. The news was first reported by Read the Line.
Cromie is best known as serving as Chris Kirk’s caddie. Kirk was the first man out of the top-50 cutoff for the BMW. Aside from serving as Kirk’s caddie, Cromie played college golf at the University of Georgia.
Scott has been on the bag for all of Scheffler’s 17 PGA Tour wins and three major championships. He also helped Scheffler secure gold at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Scheffler has already secured his spot in next week’s Tour Championship and will compete for the United States at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in late September.
