QUEENSLAND Raceway owner Tony Quinn says ways to improve traffic management for future Supercars events at the venue will be investigated.
The popular Scotsman, however, was equally keen to put things into perspective.
A three-day Ipswich Super440 crowd of 51,723 represented QR’s biggest Supercars turnout since 2011. With that came some pain in getting people in and out of the precinct.
“Personally, I travel up Gympie Rd most days of the week and it’s f**king horrific every day, so I deal with it every day, not just once a year,” said Quinn.
“But look, I think if there is something we can do, we will, right? I will give you that pledge.

“But it’s not that bad.
“The trouble is this place started off with a hell of a legacy with the carpark, that it was seven hours to get out and everything else.
“I’ve travelled in and out fairly easily to be quite honest; so long as the traffic keeps moving, it’s good.
“We have a few ideas for next year for the parking to make it easier, but it comes with being busy.
“If you have got a busy town centre, it’s hard to get a parking space.
“Sure, if we had a greenfield and could build a brand-new facility, we’d have a different way of doing it. But we’ve inherited this venue and we have to make the best of it.
“I don’t think it’s bad. I think it’s good to have a whinge, because if you didn’t have a whinge, you’d whinge about something else, and sooner or later they’d be whinging about me – and that’s what I’m trying to avoid!”
There is no guarantee as yet that QR will be on the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship, but following the weekend’s success Quinn declared he would be “flabbergasted” if the event was not extended.
