Pramac ace Jack Miller continues to face an uncertain future in MotoGP after Yamaha signed Toprak Razgatlioglu to move across from World Superbikes in the 2026 season.
The long-awaited arrival of Razgatlioglu in the premier class next term has put Miller at risk, with the 30-year-old the only Yamaha rider without a contract for 2026. But questions have persisted as Yamaha added a release clause in the two-year deal they gifted Miguel Oliveira.
Both Miller and Oliveira joined Pramac for the 2025 season after signing works contracts for Yamaha. Yet the Japanese brand signing BMW WSBK rider Razgatlioglu cast doubts over the Pramac line-up, as only Fabio Quartararo has scored more points than Miller on the YZR-M1.
Oliveira’s release clause is now active, too, having only scored six points through the first 12 of 22 rounds in the 2025 MotoGP season compared to Quartararo on 102, Miller on 52 and Alex Rins on 42. Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez has even secured six points this term.

Miller also helped Yamaha finish the 2025 Suzuka 8 Hours in second place during MotoGP’s summer break. Now, the Australian’s show of commitment could also help to see him move up from satellite team Pramac to replace Rins in the factory Yamaha MotoGP team in 2026.

That is according to Fox Sports Australia, which claims there is an ‘increasing possibility’ that Yamaha will terminate Rins’ contract to move Miller to partner with Quartararo. Yamaha are studying every option, as they are interested in placing Moto2 ace Diogo Moreira at Pramac.
Yamaha are yet to decide their final plans for the 2026 season, but are open to Moreira and Razgatlioglu forming an all-rookie line-up at Pramac during the last year of the current rules cycle. Rins’ ongoing troubles this year have also started to make Yamaha consider his future.

Carlo Pernat believes Yamaha may drop Rins for “physical reasons”, with the 29-year-old still to return to 100% fitness since breaking his leg at the 2023 Italian Grand Prix. Rins fractured the tibia and fibula in his right leg during the Mugello Sprint Race while still with LCR Honda.
So, while it would be expensive for Yamaha to terminate Rins’ contract, the Iwata brand are considering the option given his form in comparison to Miller’s. Additionally, all of Yamaha’s sponsors would back Miller replacing Rins in the factory line-up, should that option develop.

If the six-time premier class Grand Prix winner is to be shown the door, he could demand his salary for 2026 be paid in full. Rins has a £1.8m-a-year contract with Yamaha, which is worth less than the £2.5m deal that the Iwata brand gifted Miller to join Pramac for the 2025 term.
Another possible hurdle to Yamaha’s proposed plan that would see Miller replace Rins is the competition they could face to sign Moreira. Ducati have made Moreira an offer to move up to MotoGP in 2027, with the 21-year-old staying in Moto2 for a third campaign next season.
Ducati and Yamaha are not alone in chasing the first Brazilian to win a Moto2 race following Moreira’s win at the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix. Yet Moreira’s advisors are pushing him to reject Honda’s three-year, £1.3m-a-term contract offer to replace Somkiat Chantra at LCR in 2026.
