The Cleveland Cavaliers looked like they were destined to reach the second round after an impressive start to their playoff series against the Toronto Raptors, but six games weren’t enough to determine a winner. After the Raptors won Game 6 in unbelievable fashion, Sunday’s Game 7 will determine the final team to reach the NBA’s final eight.
After Donovan Mitchell and James Harden played like stars in the opening two games of the series, Cleveland badly needs its stars to play like stars. The All-Star duo couldn’t get the better of a Raptors team missing Brandon Ingram in Game 6, and now Ingram has a chance to return for Game 7 as he deals with a heel injury.
To advance, the Raptors will have to do something they haven’t done yet in these playoffs: win on the road. The home team has won each game in this series, which bodes well for the Cavaliers.
Still, after losing three of their last four games and dropping a series against the Pacers as favorites a year ago, Cleveland can’t take anything for granted.
