Winter in WA definitely gets undersold.

The weather is actually decent for the most part, and the State comes alive with a packed events calendar featuring some incredible sporting action.

This June through to August, WA is hosting an absolutely unmissable winter of sport, from stadium showdowns to high-speed thrills, there is a calendar of sporting events packed with energy, passion and unforgettable moments.

The list goes on – check out what’s coming up:

Roos Out West – June 6, Bunbury and June 13, Optus Stadium

The North Melbourne Kangaroos are heading to WA for two big weekends of footy. First up is against Freo down in Bunbury – a great excuse to head down for the weekend and explore all the bustling rural city has to offer. The following weekend they return to Perth for a game against West Coast, which we’re tipping by then to me an absolutely must-win for the blue and gold. More info/tickets here.

FIBA Men’s World Cup Qualifiers – July 3 + 6, RAC Arena

Basketball fans don’t miss out either – the Australian Boomers return to Perth in July for a blockbuster couple of FIBA Men’s World Cup Qualifiers. They take on the Philippines and Guam on the path to securing their place in next year’s FIBA World Cup, in a rare chance for WA audiences to watch the Boomers live. Grab tickets here.

Wallabies v Italy: Nations Championship – July 18, HBF Park

The road to the Rugby World Cup 2027 runs through Perth, with the Wallabies taking on Italy at HBF Park as part of the 2026 Nations Championship (tickets here). Italy haven’t been to Australia in almost a decade, which makes this a rare occasion, and with the World Cup on the horizon, the Wallabies will be playing with serious intent.

Perth Super 440 – July 31-August 2, MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway

The Supercars are back in WA, and this year’s Perth Super 440 carries a bit of extra weight. Round 8 of the Repco Supercars Championship lands at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway, which also marks the last time the championship will race at the venue.  Beyond the racing itself, the weekend brings paddock access, driver signings, food trucks and family-friendly activations – a fun weekend out for both committed motorsport fans or those just looking for some fast-paced family fun. More info/tickets here.

Looking ahead: Calcio Italiano in Perth – August 5, 8 and 11, Optus Stadium

Perth International football fans are getting a real treat in August with an Australian exclusive event, Calcio Italanio, featuring three Serie A giants – AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Palermo – coming to Optus Stadium for a series of matches Alongside the football, an Italian Festival will bring food, music and culture to the city – making it as much a celebration of Italy as it is a series of football matches.
