It looks like Aerosmith won’t reunite for their farewell tour after all, and fans are “Cryin’.”
Joe Perry, the group’s founding lead guitarist and backup vocalist, recently visited former bandmate Steven Tyler. The musicians met in mid-July to chat about the possibility of picking off where they left off before cancelling their “Peace Out” farewell tour in August 2024 – and hard truths were met.
“I would bet that there’s an Aerosmith show left,” Joe, 74, told WBUR in a story published on Tuesday, August 12. “There’s been talk about doing a documentary, that might be part of it. I’ve been spending a lot of time with Steven, and he just doesn’t want to tour – and he can’t tour. It’s tough.”
The “Peace Out” tour began in 2023 before abruptly coming to an end after Steven, 77, suffered a serious vocal cord injury.
Joe admitted that even he wasn’t “sure [he] would want to go out and book another 40-city tour.”

“It’s a long way to the top and staying there takes it out of you, especially an Aerosmith tour,” he added.
Weeks prior, Joe shared that he had a feeling Aerosmith’s touring days were a thing of the past after talking with his bandmates “quite a bit.”
“We’re all flesh and blood. I don’t know, man,” Joe told WZXL’s Kenny Young on July 30. “I would say, at some point we will all be together on the same stage… If I was a betting man, which I am, I would say, at some point something’s gonna happen. But we’ll see.”
Aerosmith fans were hopeful for good news regarding the farewell tour after Steven performed at Black Sabbath’s “Back to the Beginning” concert on July 5. The former American Idol host rocked out to Aerosmith hits “Train Kept a Rollin’” and “Walk This Way.” He also covered Led Zeppelin’s song “Whole Lotta Love.”
