After a season in which little went the New York Rangers’ way, Tuesday’s NHL Draft Lottery followed suit. Both Toronto and San Jose hopped New York in the draft order, so the Rangers will pick at No. 5, two spots lower than where they started.
At least New York now has clarity on where it stands entering a pivotal summer. President and general manager Chris Drury still has a chance to add a high-skill player to his prospect pool with the lottery pick, and the Rangers will then proceed to free agency. Trades involving roster players could happen throughout.
