Kevin Durant seemed to take a dig at his former teammate Steph Curry with his latest social media commentary.

During an exchange with fans on X (formerly Twitter), Durant was asked why he thinks some Warriors fans hate him. Durant seemingly blamed Curry’s fans.

“Them finals MVPs, they will never recover,” Durant replied, apparently alluding to the fact that he won both Finals MVP awards, in 2017 and ’18. Back in 2015, Curry also missed out on the MVP when it was awarded to Andre Iguodala.

Eventually, Curry won Finals MVP 2022 title, while leading the Warriors past the Boston Celtics.

Unlike Curry, Durant has played for several more teams and has not won a championship since he’s been in a Warriors uniform. After three successful seasons as a Warrior, he left in free agency for the Brooklyn Nets to team with Kyrie Irving in 2019. When the plans in Brooklyn fizzled out, he demanded a trade and was dealt to the Phoenix Suns in 2023.

In June, the Phoenix Suns traded Durant to the Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Following the trade announcement that was made at the Fanatics Fest, Durant told Kay Adams that he’s “looking forward” to being a Rocket.

“Crazy, crazy last couple weeks, but I’m glad it’s over with,” Durant said, before admitting that the trade wasn’t a total surprise. “I had an idea, but I didn’t know exactly when it was gonna happen. I’m glad we kind of did this onstage, it worked out.”
