Joey Valence & Brae might not be looking for trouble but they absolutely tore up the Like A Version studio with their cover of Amyl and the Sniffers’ ‘Security’.
Despite only being joined by a laptop in the room, the Pennsylvanian duo harnessed all of their energy and unleashed it in their debut Like A Version performance.
“It just has so much energy,” Brae said.
“As soon as you hear it, you just wanna bounce off the walls. So we knew we had to cover that one.”
Appreciating the imperfections of the original and Amy Taylor’s brash vocal style, Joey Valence & Brae aimed to maintain that vibe but draw it into their dance-heavy realm.
“The first thing we did was just straight-up use their song and just recorded some vocal takes over it,” Joey Valence said.
“I did like a really, really bad remake of it and as we got vocal takes I just built it from there and tried to figure out a structure that worked. It took me a bit to get the drums and the bass sounding right, but we kinda just reverse-engineered it.”
With this level of dedication to the stamina of the track, not only would we let Joey Valence & Brae into tour pub, we’d put them on the door for life. Come on in, fellas.
