An Isle of Wight racer has made a confident start on a challenging course.
Seven-year-old mountain biker Finley Manser-Grundy, of Wightlink CRT, finished fifth out of 13 competitors in the under-13 category at his first Southern Enduro event, held at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

The rider tackled a demanding five-stage course described as reflecting typical “Brighstone Forest conditions,” complete with rooty, off-camber turns and slippery chalk sections.
Despite being the youngest competitor, Finley impressed with his technical riding and enthusiasm for the downhill and pedalling sections.

His father, Jack, said: “A confident and encouraging start to enduro racing for Finley, and an exciting sign of what’s to come as he continues to enjoy anything on two wheels.”

Elsewhere, Charis Jones took on the gruelling Mallorca 312 on April 25, a 312km cycling challenge with nearly 5,000 metres of climbing through Mallorca’s Tramuntana mountains.
She finished as the 20th female overall, second British female, and 12th in her age group with an official time of 11 hours 32 minutes.
Ms Jones said: “It was an unforgettable day with big climbs and descents, and an atmosphere that fully lives up to the hype.”
