A quiet night out at a Coldplay concert has turned into a corporate storm for two top executives at Astronomer, after a newly surfaced video shows CEO Andy Byron and Chief Human Resources Officer Kristin Cabot engaging in public displays of affection (PDA) even before the now-viral “kiss cam” moment that triggered cheating allegations.
TMZ on Friday released exclusive footage from the Gillette Stadium in Boston, capturing Byron and Cabot kissing and behaving affectionately well before the stadium’s jumbotron featured them during Coldplay’s performance.
The incident gained widespread attention when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin inadvertently spotlighted the two during the show. As the camera zoomed in on them, both Byron and Cabot quickly ducked and turned their faces away prompting Martin to joke from the stage, “I hope we didn’t do something bad,” and then adding, “Either they are having an affair or they are very shy,” drawing laughter and speculation from the crowd and social media users alike.
The moment quickly spiralled into controversy, as Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron and lives with her in New York. Meanwhile, Kristin Cabot is believed to be married to Andrew Cabot, the CEO of Privateer Rum. Public records also indicate the couple recently purchased a home together in Rye, New Hampshire.
Astronomer issues statement after controversy
In response to the growing backlash, Astronomer issued a statement on Friday, emphasising its commitment to corporate values and leadership standards.
“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”
The company also clarified on LinkedIn that no other employees were involved or present in the video and refuted claims about Byron making a public statement.
“Alyssa Stoddard was not at the event and no other employees were in the video. Andy Byron has not put out any statement; reports saying otherwise are all incorrect,” the post stated.
