A24

A24 has premiered the first official trailer for “Marty Supreme,” the new film from “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems” co-director Josh Safdie.

The sports adventure comedy-drama is a fictionalized story inspired by professional ping pong player Marty Reisman. The table tennis champion started his career as a hustler in Manhattan, playing for bets and prize money and won 22 major ping pong titles from 1946 to 2002.

Safdie and Ronald Bronstein co-wrote the film which seems more tied to a specific time, namely 1950s New York, and character.

In the film Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.

Timothée Chalamet leads the cast as the title character alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.

Safdie and Ronald Bronstein also produce the film alongside Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas. “Marty Supreme” opens in cinemas on December 25th.
