The Kansas City Chiefs will get to host the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 1 of the 2026 regular season after the NFL revealed a key change to the AFC West matchup on Tuesday, May 12.
Rumors began swirling that Kansas City would face off against Denver on ‘Monday Night Football’ to kick off the new season, but it took a few hours for key details of the primetime matchup to be revealed.

In a post to his official Twitter account, NFL insider Adam Schefter announced that the Chiefs’ home-opener would be played against the Broncos in Week 1:
Schefter’s report was later corroborated by Kansas City’s social media department, which followed up on an earlier post that indicated the game would be played against Denver, but not where the matchup would take place.
This last-minute update from the NFL could help the Chiefs get off to a fast start in the 2026 regular season if the crowd at Arrowhead can find a way to affect the rivalry contest with the stadium’s notoriously loud atmosphere.
