Borisa Simanic revealed that he wasn’t called to join Serbia for the EuroBasket

Igokea forward Borisa Simanic expressed his disappointment over being left out of the Serbian national team roster ahead of the EuroBasket with an emotional message on social media.
“Thank you Serbia. I give you a kidney, glory and joy and you give me humiliation and sadness!” Simanic wrote on Instagram.
During the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Simanic lost his kidney in the aftermath of receiving an elbow hit to the midsection in a game between Serbia and South Sudan. He was initially operated the same night after the game but there were complications that forced a second surgery for the removal of his kidney.
A year later, Simanic returned to basketball by signing with Igokea in Serbia. He averaged 8.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in the 2024-25 ABA League and signed an extension with the club earlier this summer.
Simanic made his national team comeback during the 2025 EuroBasket Qualifiers, playing in both the November and February Windows.
Serbia has yet to unveil the preliminary roster of the national team of the EuroBasket. It’s expected that Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic will be present, together with Los Angeles Clippers guard Bogdan Bogdanovic and new Hapoel Tel Aviv guard Vasilije Micic.
