The French Riviera is famous for many things: perpetual sun, stunning coastal scenes of the Mediterranean, and F. Scott Fitzgerald, to name a few. But if there’s one thing the Côte d’Azur region is most renowned for, its the Cannes Film Festival—largely considered the most prestigious film festival in the world—that takes place every spring. Now, the 2026 Cannes Film Festival has kicked off, and the biggest names in global cinema set to step onto the famed red carpet, ahead of a 12-day-long premiere schedule of some of the most highly-anticipated films of the year.
This year, the Cannes jury will be presided over director and screenwriter Park Chan-wook, the first South Korean jury president in history. Joining her on the judicious panel is Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Laura Wandel, Chloé Zhao, Diego Céspedes, Isaach De Bankolé, Paul Laverty, and Stellan Skarsgård. As for the attendees? A glittery line-up of A-listers—so far, including Alexandra Leclerc in a glittery, scalloped tiered dress by Australian designer Paolo Sebastian, and Demi Moore in an custom lavender number cut from iridescent tulle by Gucci—will walk the French red carpet.
2026 is only the sophomore year that Cannes has enforced its dress code ban on ‘revealing’ dresses, as well as excessively long trains that could hinder ‘the smooth flow of guests’. For a red carpet that has long been renowned for its naked dresses and extravagant silhouettes, there were murmurs of concern for what this would mean for the historically adventurous red carpet. But if 2025 proved anything, it’s that the stars will manage to find their way around these mandates—say, with simple yet striking statements, or roundabout ways of dressing sensually—with zeal and ease.
Ahead, see everything the stars are wearing on the 2026 Cannes Film Festival red carpet.
