LeBron James set to break NBA record with 23rd season

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is about to make NBA history in the upcoming 2025/26 season.

The forward will start his 23rd NBA season on opening night, surpassing Vince Carter for the most seasons played in league history, according to NBA Communications.

LeBron James will officially begin this historic season when the Lakers face the Golden State Warriors on October 21.

Already, LeBron holds the record for the most minutes played in NBA history, totaling 71,104 minutes across 1,854 regular and postseason games, though he will only become the league’s longest-serving player once the new season begins.

Last season, the 40-year-old 21-time All-Star averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists.

This milestone marks another remarkable chapter in the career of LeBron James, further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest players in NBA history.
