THE Casio Commodore that Larry Perkins drove to a podium finish in the Group A touring car support race at the 1987 Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide is returning – in 1:18 scale.
The #11 VL Commodore SS Group A was driven by Perkins to third place in the race, held on the Saturday afternoon of the Grand Prix weekend.
Perkins finished third behind the ailing Ford Sierra RS500 of winner Dick Johnson and the turbo Nissan Skyline of George Fury.
The car has been announced by Biante Model Cars and pre orders are open now here on the V8 Sleuth Superstore.
The Casio livery was a case of ‘blink and you would have missed it’ on the Perkins Holden.
It first appeared on the car at the Wellington round of the World Touring Car Championship, though the chassis itself – PE 004 – was debuted by Perkins and Denny Hulme at the Calder Park 500 WTCC round the weekend after Bathurst, though largely devoid of sponsorship.
The livery remained on the car for its return to Australia and subsequent start in Adelaide, even still featuring the name of Perkins’ Calder and Wellington co-driver Hulme on the windscreen strip.
The Biante release of the 1987 Perkins VL features fully opening doors, bonnet and boot and will be presented in collector-grade packaging and accompanied by an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
It’s also an officially licenced Perkins Engineering model.

The model is expected to be available in be available in Quarter 4 of 2026, between October and December.
