Lleyton and Bec Hewitt bought a Gold Coast mansion while son Cruz trained at KDV Sports Centre in Carrara
A sports mega-site that helped launch the tennis career of teen prodigy Cruz Hewitt is up for sale.
The KDV Sports Centre at Carrara was the reason Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt and his actress wife Bec left their Melbourne mansion, moving the family to the Gold Coast in 2021 so their son Cruz, now 17, could train at the elite facility.
While the high-profile family has since relocated to Sydney, the state-of-the-art precinct that drew them to the Glitter Strip has hit the market via an international expressions of interest campaign with Roland Evans and Angus Cottrell, of Canford Estate Agents.

The lucrative 11.85 freehold site across five titles at 221-249 Nerang-Broadbeach Rd and 8 Chisholm Rd includes the sports academy along with a 69-room hotel, golf-driving range, pickleball courts, soccer facilities, fitness centres and function venues.
Owner Denis Shtengelov is selling up after a decade to pursue a new venture, according to the Gold Coast Bulletin.
It was built on the former site of the Carrara Gardens golf club, with Mr Shtengelov then stating he wanted to make tennis accessible as a sport “not just for the rich”.

“It is necessary to change the tennis system. Becoming a professional with the right coaching is only for the rich and the same applies to golf,” he said in 2013.
The agents described the sale as a “rare large-scale experiential real estate opportunity”, noting the variety of assets delivering “diversified income across sport, hospitality, events and accommodation”.
The Hewitts caused a stir with their $4.305m purchase of a designer beach house in Burleigh Heads named The Palms, which was crowned Australia’s most-viewed home during its marketing campaign in 2021.

At the time, the sales agent confirmed the Palm Springs-inspired luxury home appealed to the star couple due to “Bec’s eye for architecture and their son Cruz’s tennis commitments…on the Gold Coast”.
Cruz Hewitt transitioned from tennis’ junior ranks to the Australian Open men’s qualifying draws in 2025 and 2026 as a wildcard entrant.
The Hewitts listed their luxury European-style home in Melbourne’s blue-chip Toorak with a price guide of $15-16m just weeks after the Coast buy.
