Travis Kelce doesn’t seem to see the harm behind Philadelphia Eagles fans’ complaints over the 2026 NFL schedule.

On the Wednesday, May 20 episode of Travis and his brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, the brothers discussed how some Eagles fans are upset that the Eagles are playing on Christmas Eve.

“Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. It is OBNOXIOUS that the @NFL scheduled the @Eagles on Christmas Eve at 8:15 pm. Literally, is nothing sacred? They already have nearly every dollar on the planet and continue to worship at the altar of greed,” one fan wrote on X.

Another fan wrote that while fans aren’t obligated to watch the game, it will mostly still be turned on and distract NFL fans during the holiday.

“It’s easy to say ‘just don’t watch it’ and I agree with you, the last thing I want to do on Christmas Eve is watch a football game. I would much rather listen to Christmas music and sip eggnogs with family and friends. Maybe exchange some gifts and have some good conversation,” the fan wrote. “But you know as well as I that at any gathering, some blockhead is going to want the game on in the living room. Before you know it, most of the men are going to gravitate there and most of the women are going to be left alone in the kitchen or dining room. Now Christmas Eve has turned into just another football night.”

“The Christmas Eve game, everybody is upset about it in Philly,” Jason, who played for the Eagles for 13 season career in the league.

Travis scoffed before he responded to his older brother, asking, “Why are they upset about a Christmas Eve game?”

“Because it’s Christmas Eve!” said Jason agreeing with his fellow Eagles fans. “You’re supposed to be with family. People don’t want to spend time thinking about the football on Christmas Eve. I get it, I do.”

“I don’t know why I’m hard-pressed to believe that that’s not the majority,” Travis said. “I feel like Birds fans and Philadelphians are going to get excited for a game like that. Maybe I’m catching that wrong.”

Jason, who shares four daughters with his wife, Kylie Kelce, shared that the timing of the game also goes into play as to why some fans are annoyed.

“I think Christmas Eve for some reason, at night, feels like that is primetime when you’re with the family, you’re getting everything ready, the presents are getting ready to be put under the tree by Santa,” he said.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end refuted his brother’s idea suggesting that Eagles fans could turn it into a “bonding” experience by watching their favorite team.

“You’re at the house watching the game!” he replied. “You’re going to be at home getting ready for Christmas the next day watching the Birds play football. I feel like that’s a bonding, family experience.”

Jason on the other hand suggested that it could just be that NFL fans are just “getting frustrated with the league in general” noting that NFL fans usually several subscriptions to keep up with the games.

“There’s more streaming platforms that are costing fans money to watch the games,” Jason said. “It’s harder to watch every game of your team than it’s been in a long time, or ever. There’s more international games.”

On Christmas Eve, the Eagles will face the Houston Texans at 8:15 p.m. ET at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
