Oscar Piastri won’t be the only extremely busy Australian at this year’s Monaco Grand Prix. Queenslander Garry Connelly will be chair of the stewards at the calendar’s most glamorous F1 weekend and will, to some extent, have the fate of Piastri’s race in his hands.
Having worked at the world’s biggest motorsport events over decades, Connelly is a superstar, albeit among officials. And he accepts he’s never going to be popular.
