The producer price index for final demand rose 0.9 per cent in July, the US Bureau of Labour Statistics said. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the PPI rising 0.2 per cent.
Prices for final demand services advanced 1.1 per cent, and the index for final demand goods increased 0.7 per cent. In the 12 months through July, the PPI increased 3.3 per cent after advancing 2.4 per cent in June.
