AFL fans will have to pay at least $10 more for a ticket to this year’s Grand Final, after the AFL announced it was breaking a six-year price freeze.

The cheapest reserved seat at this year’s grand final will set fans back $195 each.

Entry-level ticket prices will remain frozen for matches in the first three weeks of the Finals Series, but all other categories will incur an average four per cent increase.

Fans can purchase entry-level tickets for $25 in weeks one and two of the finals and $65 for the third week of finals.

AFL Executive General Manager of Customer and Commercial Bec Haagsma said the pricing restructure was arranged “to combat rising costs”.

“We remain committed to keeping the finals ticket prices as an affordable option in recognition of the members and fans who support their clubs in record numbers,” Haagsma said.

“A 10-year price freeze on weeks one to three continues to be unrivalled in Australian sport.”

The remaining tickets will be allocated to MCC, AFL and Medallion Club members, as well as corporate and club stakeholders, broadcast partners and premium hospitality experiences.

“The Toyota AFL Grand Final is among the biggest and best sporting events in the world, and the reality is we could sell out the 100,000-seat MCG four times over,” Haagsma said.

“When tickets are released in September, our priority will be the members of the two competing clubs, who will continue to receive the largest share of available tickets.”
