The Atlanta Hawks promoted general manager Onsi Saleh to the role of president of basketball operations, the organization announced Wednesday. Team sources also confirmed that Saleh was signed to a long-term contract extension.
Saleh has been with the Hawks since 2024, first serving as the team’s assistant general manager. He was promoted to general manager in April 2025. Saleh has had executive stints with the San Antonio Spurs, serving as director of strategy and process and chief of staff, and with the Golden State Warriors, serving as vice president of basketball strategy and team counsel.
Saleh finished second in the voting for NBA Basketball Executive of the Year behind Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens.
The Hawks finished with a 46-36 regular-season record and earned the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs this season. They won 19 of 22 games between Feb. 19 and April 3, including 11 consecutive victories. The Hawks lost to the New York Knicks in the first round after holding a 2-1 lead.
Atlanta hopes to build on what it currently has with two first-round selections in the upcoming NBA Draft. The Hawks have the No. 8 pick, as well as the No. 23 pick.
