A miscommunication between Halle Berry and Jenna Bush Hager caused Sheinelle Jones — and practically the entire set — to burst into laughter.
The Oscar winner was a guest on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle Thursday, May 28, and shared her opinion on a variety of trending topics during the “Pink Chair Questionnaire” segment.
Jenna saved her best question for last, yielding an unexpected response from Berry. She asked the actor to reveal her “biggest ick.”
But Berry misheard her and thought the TODAY co-host was inquiring about a NSFW word instead.
Stunned, Berry turned to Jenna in disbelief. Sheinelle, who also appeared to mishear her co-host, repeated the question, clarifying that they wanted Berry to share a turn off or pet peeve.
Berry instantly covered her face with her hands and doubled over with laughter before looking shocked again.
“Ooh Halle!” Sheinelle playfully said and pretended to swat Berry with her note cards. “You are naughty!”
The camera slowly zoomed in on Jenna, who looked equally surprised as crew members could be heard chuckingly behind the scenes.
“It sounded like that didn’t it?” Berry asked. “It did to me!”
She then decided to answer the question she misheard. “I was going to say Van’s,” she added, referring to fiancé and musician Van Hunt.
Sheinelle continued to laugh and clap her hands. Jenna, while fanning herself, chimed in and said, “There’s something about the word ‘biggest’ with the word ‘ick,’” explaining the confusion.
Jenna pointed out that the broadcast was on a five-second delay in case there were any slip-ups. “Between, ‘Heated Rivalry’ and biggest ick,” Jenna said as Berry let out a scream, mishearing the co-host once again. (Berry previously mentioned that she wanted to start watching the sports drama).
“Ick! I said ick!” Jenna assured her.
Sheinelle hilariously turned to Berry and joked, “No, she didn’t.”
The segment ended with the three ladies still unable to control their laughter.
