In the wake of everyone’s anticipation of what might unfold throughout the course of the summer, the Miami Heat and the Portland Trail Blazers are now in the race for the Greek superstar, per NBA insider Marc Stein.
“More and more, with sources saying Miami and Portland are already in pursuit, Antetokounmpo’s future is increasingly expected to be resolved over the next few weeks in conjunction with NBA Draft proceedings,” Stein wrote.
Year after year, the Heat have been the most consistent and well-regarded team interested in Antetokounmpo.
After last year’s trade departure of Jimmy Butler and their frequent Play-In finishes since 2023, the Heat are in a desperate hunt to finally land the two-time MVP on their side.
The Blazers, on the other hand, have most of the Bucks’ future first-round picks. This plays a key role for them in striking a potential Antetokounmpo trade, which would allow Milwaukee to go for a full reset.
More importantly, Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday have significant ties with Antetokounmpo, as both star guards are currently playing in Portland.
After a 2025-26 season filled with drama, frustration and failure to reach the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2016, both Giannis and the Bucks are heading to a highly important offseason that will fully decide their future.
