The final game revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2026 showcase was Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which will conclude the remake trilogy.
Square Enix has been speed-running the series onto the Switch 2, with Remake Intergrade launching earlier this year and Rebirth arriving just last week. That’s all to make way for this one, which will launch on all consoles at the same time.
Revelation finishes off the remake trilogy by bringing players to a host of new locations, including Wutai, Mideel, and even Midgar again, all of which will be reached by the Highwind, Cid’s airship. Players will be able to travel across the world via the Highwind, then parachute down into areas they want to visit. Square calls it the most expansive open world it’s ever created, and it certainly looks like that’s going to be true.
In addition to new party members in Cid and Vincent, there’s also a brand new addition to combat with the FIT system. This is a job system akin to Final Fantasy X-2’s Dressphere system, or Lightning Returns’ Garb system, and gives characters a new outfit and a new move set focused on one of the classic jobs from Final Fantasy, like the Warrior or the Black Mage.
We also got our first look at Weapons, guardians of the planet that you’ll have to fight against during the story to help stop Sephiroth.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch sometime between March to June 2027.
