The “biggest shake-up in The Voice history” is coming with the news that a global superstar will be joining the reality TV show as a fifth coach later this year.

Aussie singer-songwriter Tones and I (real name Toni Watson) is officially getting her own swivel chair in the new series of the singing series, taking up an extra spot alongside international pop icon Melanie C, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Richard Marx, UK superstar Ronan Keating and acclaimed Aussie vocalist Kate Miller-Heidke.

A bit crowded with five chairs? Perhaps. But the idea of having the Dance Monkey hit maker on board got a big fat YES from fans when it was shared online.

“My mouth just dropped to the floor!!! Can’t wait to tune in to Queen T,” one excited fan wrote on Instagram.

“Yeahhh I can’t wait for this!!!! So excited!!!” another squealed.

Others were thrilled to see another Aussie join the coaching panel after such an international-heavy line-up in the past.

“Bout (sic) time they add a second Australian judge bit ridiculous being voice Australia and only 1 Australian judge.”

And another dissed any concerns with pure enthusiasm over another judge: “OMGGGG 5 coaches.”

33-year-old Toni has left her Byron Bay busking days firmly behind her since becoming one of Australia’s most successful music exports, accumulating more than 12 billion streams worldwide and multiple ARIA Awards.

Her move from singing on the streets to mentoring hopeful artists just like she once was is quite the full-circle moment.

“I grew up watching The Voice, as any aspiring singer, artist or songwriter would,” she said about her new gig.

“I’m so excited. I can’t believe I get my very own big red chair with my very own big red buzzer – it’s very showbiz of me!”

The singer is having a massive year on the music front, driven by a recent collaboration with fellow Australian producer FISHER to release the catchy tech-house anthem Favour, which quickly climbed to the top of the dance radio charts.

Most of the year has been spent touring regional Australia and bringing her live show to exclusive venues like the Maryborough and Ingham Showgrounds.

Her touring schedule is showing no signs of slowing down, with a headline act slated for the iconic Deni Ute Muster festival in October 2026.
