A second ex-AFL player has signed with Maiden Gully YCW in the Loddon Valley league with Shaun McKernan joining the Eagles.

The club made the announcement on Friday afternoon on social media saying the three-club AFL player has joined.

McKernan makes the move from Tullamarine in the Essendon District league with the former Adelaide, Essendon and St Kilda player making a transfer request earlier this week to move to the club in the Loddon Valley league.

Now, he’s made the move and could make his debut on Saturday against Calivil United.

“He’s a real heart and soul player,” the Eagles said.

“His experience and skill will be invaluable to our group, can’t wait to see you player for us Shaun.”

McKernan joins former Essendon and Port Adelaide player Angus Monfries at the club with the small forward a player-coach.

He joins a team looking to rise up the ladder with the Eagles currently seventh with two wins and two games behind fifth and finals.

It is also a busy time for the club with Maiden Gully YCW in the process of applying to join the Bendigo league for 2027.
