Farmer Wants A Wife has been compared to Married At First Sight after Sunday’s episode included some wild scenes.
One of the farmers told Yahoo Lifestyle that he chose to appear on the Channel 7 program over Channel 9’s lineup of reality TV dating shows because it was the “more humble, wholesome” choice.
However, it may not be as wholesome as first thought.
Sunday’s episode was filled with tears, snarky comments over who got chosen for individual dates, and a woman stormed out.
We got to see the women vying for the five farmers’ hearts after arriving at their homes, but one lucky lady was picked to turn up 24 hours earlier than the others.
Farmers then picked a blind date, before deciding which of their suitresses would go home.

Farmer Jason revealed he was choosing not to send anyone home, particularly after one decided that it was “not the environment for her” and left the show.
“I feel like I’ve only known you guys for two days, and it’s not enough. Happy for all you guys to stay,” Jason said at a group dinner with the four women who made it to his farm.
Most of the women were silent as he expressed the thought process behind the decision, but Jessica, whom he’d been on a blind date with earlier, was unimpressed.
She scoffed at Jason’s move, then started laughing.
Jessica ripped off her microphone and left the room.

“Thank you, Jason. Wow. Thank you so much. I just knew that was going to happen,” she said as she stood up and ripped off her microphone.
Jason was stunned as Jessica walked out of the room and locked herself in her bedroom with a producer.
She refused to talk to Jason after he knocked on the door, instead telling Poppy that she wanted to leave.
It’s a blow for Jason, who had already had Jessie refuse to come to the farm because she didn’t want to be on television after he had picked her to move on.
“I was like, ‘Holy sh*t!’ I was worried they were all just going to keep leaving,” Jason told Woman’s Day.
It was far from the only dramatic scene on the show last night, with Zac ending up in the hospital after injuring his wrist during a slip and slide.
Many of the women were also shedding tears at the overwhelming nature of dating on television in a group, and women started to make snide remarks about who got picked for dates.
Viewers compare the show to MAFS
The drama-packed episode led some viewers to compare the show to Channel 9’s Married At First Sight, which is known for its explosive dinner parties.
“While I am the first to admit I do love a bit of drama to keep things interesting, I do hope they don’t start going down the Married At First Sight Australia route,” one fan said.
“Well, they are down the MAFS road already,” another added.

“Why the drama FWAW? This is becoming a big, steamy Temu turd version of MAFS,” a third said.
Others questioned why the women reacted to what seemed like positive news: that no one would be sent home.
“Starting to wonder if any of these girls know the show they signed for,” one said.
“Every year, I wonder if these women have ever watched the show…. this always happens,” added another.
Why the farmers chose the reality show
Ahead of the show’s premiere, Yahoo Lifestyle had a chance to sit down with Zac, Alex, Jarrad, Jason and Dylan.
When asked why the farmers chose the show over other reality romance shows such as Love Island or Married At First Sight, it all came down to the show’s proven track record in creating long-lasting couples.
“I think Farmer Wants A Wife, we’re in the 16th season, so obviously 16 years it’s been on air, and it’s seen quite a lot of success over the years with a lot of marriages and kids and stuff like that,” Jarrad told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“I think out of all the reality TV shows that are around, this seemed to be the more humble, wholesome one, from what I understood.
He added that on dating apps, all you have is a photo and a short biography to go off, but with Farmer Wants A Wife, there was “more science behind it” with extensive personality tests and interviews.
“I was pretty hopeful that they might find the right person for me,” he said.
