SUPERCARS will race under lights next year at Hidden Valley in a first for the Darwin Triple Crown event.
Marie-Clare Boothby, Attorney General of the Northern Territory, made the announcement a short time ago live on MotorRacing 360.
“We’re very excited tonight to announce that we’ll be holding a twilight event for Supercars and a night time event for Supercars,” she said.
“We’ll have one day, one twilight and one night race, so that is incredibly exciting probably for the drivers and participants but very much so for the people who come to watch the Supercars.”
V8 Sleuth understands the 2027 meeting will comprise of three races – one on the Friday night, another at twilight on the Saturday, and a daylight finale on the Sunday.
“Adding night racing to the Darwin Triple Crown is a major evolution for an event that is already a favourite among our fans, teams, and drivers,” said Supercars interim CEO Barclay Nettlefold.
“There is nothing quite like Supercars under lights – the noise, the energy and the atmosphere create an incredible spectacle – and bringing that energy to the Territory in 2027 will make the Darwin Triple Crown one of the standout events of the season.
“As we look ahead to a huge 2026 event this weekend, we know fans will already be excited about what’s to come in 2027 and the first-ever Supercars night race in the NT.”
Sydney Motorsport Park has been the only night event on the Supercars calendar in recent times, save for a one-off Wanneroo round under lights in 2019.
