UFC 319 LIVE: Du Plessis vs Chimaev, watch from anywhere, fight times, live updates

Round 5, surprisingly, both fighters start on their feet. However, It only took 30 seconds for Chimaev to get De Plessis back into a crucifix hold. Chimaev is putting all his weight on De Plessis as he continues to throw him around in this fifth round. De Plessis managed to turn things around briefly and nearly managed to get Chimaev in guillotine hold but Chimaev slipped out. The referee split the two again and De Plessis managed to show a bit of heart towards the end of the fight but it wasn’t enough to beat Chimaev.

De Plessis finally defends a takedown against Chimaev but that small victory is short lived as Chimaev instantly takes him down straight after and continues to set the pace of the fight. Chimaev is totally dominating De Plessis at this point, completely in control, making De Plessis carry his weight as he continues to deal damage. The referee tells the fighters to split, offering De Plessis a life line. However Chimaev instantly gets him back on the ground.

AGAIN! Chimaev has started the round by taking down De Plessis. Chimaev remains on top, conserving energy whilst De Plessis is expending a lot of energy defending on the floor. Chimaev has De Plessis right where he wants him, in a crucifix and doing a lot of damage to De Plessis’ face with his elbows. The round ends with Chamaev on top of De Plessis, just as it started.

Chimaev starts on top of De Plessis again, continuing to drag him down into a position he can manipulate the fight from. De Plessis in this stage of the fight has attempted 4 strikes and landed 0. 2 minutes in and Chimaev went for the choke and slipped out of it at the vital moment, but so far has completed all of his takedown attempts. Round 2 followed the pattern of round 1, total Chimaev control on the ground.

Chimaev had the whole crowd cheering his name as he got De Plessis down in the two’s first exchange. Chimaev held De Plessis on the ground for more or less the whole of that first round, tiring out De Plessis, a dominant wresting display from Chimaev so far.

Bruce Buffer’s voice echoes around a raucous crowd in Chicago tonight as he screamed the famous “IT’S TIME!” line ahead of our main event of the evening. Chimaev definitely has the crowd on his side tonight. It is very tense between the two fighters.

Prates will be worried that his performance of the night bonus will be in jeopardy after that. Murphy retains his unbeaten record and on such short notice, he has put in a stunning display and must be next in line for Volkanovski. Murphy, round one by knockout. Wow.

Lerone Murphy is the #6 ranked in the UFC Featherweight division as he looks to add to his victory over Josh Emmett as he remains undefeated and strong favourite for this fight. Pico is debuting after coming from Bellator and has a record of 9-1 in his last 10 fights, he has unbelievable knockout power and can wrestle too. Murphy stepped up to this featherweight bout on short notice as he looks to retain his unbeaten title against Pico who will be looking for a dramatic finish in this fight.

Carlos Prates ends Geoff Neal’s night with a spinning elbow to the side of the head which made the crowd absolutely erupt as Neal hit the floor. What a response from Prates after his defeat to Ian Gary with what has to be a strong contender for performance of the night. Prates has become the first person to knockout Geoff Neal in the octagon and will definitely celebrate his birthday well tomorrow.

The long awaited rescheduling of Geoff Neal vs Carlos Prates takes centre stage. Both fighters have so much talent and potential to go far in the division. This is an elite Welterweight matchup. Neal is ranked #11 in the UFC Welterweight division and will be hoping his quick hands can land him a victory tonight. His opponent, Carlos Prates, just breaks into the Welterweight top 10 rankings and had four finishes before losing to Ian Gary as he looks to bounce back from that loss tonight.

The fight went the full distance as Michael ‘Venom’ page oozed class in the first 2 rounds, dancing after landing shots, a real entertaining performance. However, Cannonier showed some really strong ground game in the last round but it wasn’t enough to claim victory from Michael Page who defended well late on. The enigma that is Michael Page showed what he is all about tonight.

41-year-old Cannonier is favourite to defeat #33 UFC Middleweight, Michael Page. Currently ranked just outside the top 10 of the Middleweight division, Cannonier has fought some of the toughest opposition in the division in his stellar career as he now looks to use his power once more to defeat the speed of former Bellator fighter, Michael Page.

The 38-year-old managed to get a takedown on Asakura where then showed his experience, taking his time to get the full mount and get Asakura in a guillotine choke. After what seemed an eternity, Kai Asakura couldn’t see the round out and eventually tapped out to secure the win for Elliot.

A round 2 submission lead to the victory of Susurkaev tonight. Both fighters showed a high level of technical fighting on their UFC debuts. Nolan had Susurkaev hurt as he wobbled out of round one. However, the Chechnyan laughed it off and retained his undefeated title as he submitted Nolan with a choke in round 2. Nolan joked that he’s “going down a division” as Susurkaev is “too big”.

Commentator and former fighter, Daniel Cormier, called Susurkaev a “special” talent after his victory.

The man Dana White promised to book in as soon as possible gets his debut in a last minute call up. Both Susurkaev and Nolan were called in to replace King Green and Diego Ferreira after their fight was cancelled after a King Green injury. Both men make their debut tonight in what promises to be an exciting fight. A special night for Susurkaev too as he debuts on fellow Chechnyan’s (Chimaev) card.

Oleksiejczuk, the rising Polish middleweight demonstrated yet again the power he possesses as he won the battle of the fighting nerds. A really quick one-two combination followed by a ground and pound proved to be too much for Meerschaert, who he ended by TKO in round 1.

All went fairly smoothy for Khamzat Chimaev weighing in this time…

Chimaev came in at 183lbs whilst Du Plessis came in 2lbs heavier at 185.

One notable event from yesterday’s weigh-ins was Middleweight bout between Bryan Battle and Nursulton Ruziboev being cancelled due to Bryan Battle missing weight by 4lbs.

A brilliant advert for the women’s strawweight division. Both Andrade and Loopy showed their resilience as the fight went the distance. Some brilliant striking combinations on display as Loopy dominated the early rounds but Andrade wasn’t willing to give up and Loopy had to weather the storm to come out victorious. Great to see the respect between the fighters as they embraced at the end.

Alibi Idiris (10-0) vs Joseph Morales (12-2) – Flyweight Title Fight (The Ultimate Fighter)

Key points:

Idiris is an undefeated prospect from Kazakhstan, known for his relentless pressure, strong striking as well as a solid wresting base. He’s a versatile fighter whose most recent win was a TKO against Edilson Santos Jr. at Naiza FC 61 in May last year but has limited experience against UFC calibre fighters. Morales is an American fighter and this will be his second stint in the UFC (first being 2017-2018). He’s a strong grappler, although two of his wins came via knockout. He is currently on a two fight win streak as he looks to redeem the losses he faced in his last UFC stint.

Karine Silva (18-5) vs Dione Barbosa (8-3) – Women’s Flyweight bout

Key points:

Fans should expect a BJJ battle with these two. Silva offers superior grappling form and has more experience than Barbosa which may give her the edge, most likely leading to a submission or decision. However, Barbosa’s known to show a lot of resilience which could extend the fight and put her in a favourable position.

Edson Barboza (24-12) vs Drakkar Klose (15-3-1) – Lightweight bout

Key points:

This fight is going to be between Barboza’s striking and Klose’s wrestling. Barboza has a strong kick and is known to tire opponents with leg kicks, he also offers more experience than his opponent which could prove vital in the ring. Klose’s best chance of winning the fight is with his takedown ability.

Chase Hooper (16-3-1) vs Alexander Hernandez ( 16-8) – Lightweight bout

Key points:

Expect it to be a matchup of Hooper’s submission game and Hernandez’s wresting and striking. Hooper has the biological edge over Hernandez, being the younger man, add that to his grappling ability, it would suggest a submission in Hooper’s favour.

Jessica Andrade (26-14) vs Loopy Godinez (13-5) – Women’s Strawweight bout

Key points:

Andrade has a lot of aggression, so we should expect her to bring that to the fight. Godinez is a technical grappler, if the fighters stay on their feet, we could expect Andrade’s power to shine through. If not, expect Godinez’s wrestling ability to dictate the fight.

Gerald Meerschaert (37-19) vs Michal Oleksiejczuk (20-9) – Middleweight bout

Key points:

This one will be the tale of a classic grappler against a striker. Oleksiejczuk will come into the fight with a lot of power and it could end early but Meerschaert’s submission game will be a threat if the two fighters go to the ground. Expect a high paced fight and a potential finish.

Baisangur Susurkaev (9-0) vs Eric Nolan (8-3) – Middleweight bout

Key points:

After lightweight bout between King Green and Diego Ferreira was cancelled yesterday due to an injury to King Green, Susurkaev vs Nolan will be the last prelim fight of the night. Both fighters stepped in last minute. Baisangur Susurkaev was a standout in the IFC contender series, Dana White promised to book his debut as soon as possible and he has definitely delivered on that front. Baisangur Susurkaev has recorded seven first round finishes in his nine fight career. Nolan is the reigning CFFC welterweight champion and has won his last four fights, and will also be making his UFC debut, he is also notoriously hard to finish.

Main card

Tim Elliot (21-13-1) vs Kai Asakura (21-5-0) – Flyweight bout

Key points:

Elliot’s last fight was a win via submission vs Sumudaerji in 2023, so this will be his first fight in 20 months. Now 38-years-old, he ranks #18 in the UFC Flyweight division but runs the risk of a bit of ring rust. His opponent, Asakura is unranked in the UFC flyweight division and lost in his debut title fight. However, he is the former Rizin champion and will have age on his side along with the striking edge against Elliot. Expect Elliot to attempt a lot of takedowns and Asakura to hunt for a knockout.

Jared Cannonier (18-8) vs Michael Page (23-3) – Middleweight bout

Key points:

At 41-years, Cannonier is definitely in the twilight of his career but still has a lot of striking power left to offer. Currently ranked #11 in the UFC Middleweight division, he comes into this fight after an impressive TKO vs Rodrigues in February. Cannonier has only lost to top-tier middleweights (Adesanya, Whittaker) and a win could re-enter him into title talks. Michael Page currently ranks #33 in the UFC Middleweight division but also comes into this fight after an impressive win in February. Page is 2-1 since joining the UFC from Bellator and his speed and variety could challenge Cannonier’s power. Expect Cannonier’s to pressure with heavy punches and Page to use speed and unorthodox angles to counter.

Geoff Neal (16-6) vs Carlos Prates (21-7) – Welterweight bout

Key points:

Neal ranks #11 in the UFC Welterweight division and is known for his sharp hands and boxing skills. Neal has a record of 2-3 in his last five fights after beating Rafael dos Anjos via TKO in October of last year. This fight was originally scheduled for UFC 314 but Neal withdrew due to injury. Prates ranks #9 in the UFC Welterweight division and is 4-1 with four finishes before losing to Ian Garry in his last fight. Prates has a highly volatile style and that makes him a threat but not immune to errors. Both fighters prefer striking so expect a stand-up war.

Lerone Murphy (16-0-1) vs Aaron Pico (13-4) – Co-main Featherweight bout

Key points:

A classic battle of America and the Brits. Representing England, Lerone Murphy is currently ranked #6 in the UFC Featherweight division after beating Josh Emmett by unanimous decision in April. Murphy is still undefeated and is a precise striker and strong favourite in this fight, with a win pushing him closer to a title shot. Pico is unranked in the UFC after coming over from Bellator. He boasts a record of 9-1 in his last 10 fights, with knockout power and elite wresting. Compared to Justin Gaethje for his violent style, a win could put him in contention for a featherweight title fight. Expect Murphy to keep distance with his jabs and Pico to seek takedowns or even land a knockout punch.

Dricus Du Plessis (23-2) vs Khamzat Chimaev – Main event – Middleweight championship fight

Key points:

The South-African champion is on an 11-fight win streak with a 9-0 record in the UFC. Dricus Du Plessis is known for his high strike accuracy and adaptability. He has defended his title against Israel Adesanya and Strickland as he faces undefeated Chimaev in a high-stakes bout. Chimaev’s 14-0 record has impressed UFC fans worldwide, currently ranked #3 in the UFC Middleweight division, this is his first shot at the title. However, it’s nearly been a year since he last fought when he convincingly defeated Robert Whittaker. Expect a high-paced, physical battle, with Chimaev dominating the early rounds and Du Plessis looking to take the fight beyond that.

When is UFC 319 taking place?

UFC 319 is the most highly anticipated event the UFC have announced this year, headlined by a Middleweight Championship bout between defending champion, Dricus Du Plessis and number 3 challenger, Khamzat Chimaev. The event takes place on August 16th, 2025.

Where if UFC 319 being held?

UFC 319 will be live from the United Center in Illinois, Chicago. This iteration will be the eighth visit to Chicago and the first since UFC 238 in June 2019. The United Center has a strong history of hosting UFC events, famously hosting Johnson vs Dodson in 2013 and more recently hosting UFC 238 in 2019.

What time does UFC 319 start?

The early prelims are set to start at 11.30 P.M. (BST)/ 6.30 P.M. (ET) with the first fight of the night being The Ultimate Fighter Flyweight Finale as Alibi Idris takes on Joseph Morales.

The preliminary card is scheduled to start at 1 A.M. (BST)/ 8 P.M. (ET) and the main card set to begin at around 3 A.M. (BST)/ 10 P.M. (ET).

The main event of Dricus DU Plessis against Khamzat Chimaev is expected to start after 5 A.M. (BST)/ 12 A.M. (ET).
