Vodafone have resolved the issue with its mobile network, with services being progressively restored on Thursday.
The network went down on Thursday morning, potentially affecting millions of Australians.
A Vodafone spokesperson said the issue was caused by an outage to one of its network hubs about 8am on Thursday.
“The issue has been isolated and resolved, and services are now being progressively restored,” the statement read.
“Most services have now been restored; however, some may continue to experience intermittent issues as devices reconnect.”
The spokesperson said customers should have been able to access triple-0 by connecting to other available networks at the time.
Earlier on Thursday, Vodafone customers around the country complained about the outage, with many only on SOS-only mode on their phones.
Vodafone’s network status checker on its website displayed an error message.
Reports of issues peaked at 9.05am, with more than 8260 reports, according to Downdetector.
“We’re working to improve our network, so from time to time you may experience connection issues,” the error message read.
“Use our network status checker to see any planned upgrades, maintenance or outages in your area. We’ll do our best to keep you in the loop.”
“Hey, is anyone with Vodafone having issues with the internet? Because I’m going crazy,” one user on X said.
“Vodafone in Melbourne is down. Really annoying,” another posted.
