The International World Boxing Federation has presented an updated world ranking of boxers by weight categories. The new version of the table takes into account the results of athletes for the period from July 2024 to May 2026, including key tournaments – the Asian Championship in Ulaanbaatar and the World Cup stage in Brazil. Representatives of Tajikistan have also found their place in the updated ranking.

Several Tajik boxers made it into the top 20 of their weight categories:

– 57 kg (women): 12th place – Midzhgona Samadova (300 points);

– 55 kg (men): 12th place – Anushervon Fozilov (150 points);

– 70 kg (men): 12th place – Shamsher Saidov (150 points);

– 80 kg (men): 11th place – Nekruz Salimov (300 points);

– 90 kg (men): 7th place – Parviz Karimov (500 points);

– over 90 kg (men): 18th place – Muhammad Abroridinov (150 points).

The highest result among Tajik boxers was shown by Parviz Karimov, who secured a place in the top 10 of his category, taking 7th place. In most weight categories, representatives of Asia, especially Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, dominate.

How the ranking is formed

The World Boxing system takes into account the results of athletes in key tournaments: the Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cups, continental championships, and multi-sport events. Points are awarded for performances in these tournaments and are summed up over a three-year cycle. No more than four of each boxer’s best results are considered.

The ranking plays an important role in seeding athletes at international competitions and also affects the status of fighters in world boxing.

Despite the fact that most representatives of Tajikistan are still outside the top 10, the very fact of their presence in the world ranking indicates the growth of the team’s level. It is especially important that several athletes have secured positions around 10–15 places – this is a zone from which a leap into the elite can be made with successful performances in upcoming tournaments.

The next major event will take place in June – the World Boxing World Cup in China, followed by the European Championships and the Asian Games. These competitions can significantly affect the positions of Tajik boxers.
