The Grammy-nominated Texas singer, whose full name is Khalid Donnel Robinson, broke through in the late 2010s with a string of introspective pop hits. His debut album, “American Teen,” earned widespread acclaim for its candid songwriting and coming-of-age themes, setting the tone for a career defined by emotional honesty and relatable storytelling.
Last summer, the singer gave local fans a first listen to his fourth studio album, “After the Sun Goes Down,” during an afternoon performance at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park one day after its release.
On Friday, June 26, Khalid returns to the Bay Area, this time across the Bay Bridge for a concert at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley as part of his It’s Always Summer Somewhere Tour — his first in six years. The setlist is expected to draw from throughout his catalog, including songs from his albums and mixtapes.
Lauv, the San Francisco-born singer-songwriter who was slated to join the tour, dropped out earlier this month, citing mental health struggles.
