The ZOE International Race Across America cyclists have officially crossed into their fourth state and a new time zone.
On their third day of racing, Lancaster County riders Brad Ortenzi and Randy Martin arrived in Colorado after crossing Arizona into the Mountain Time zone, which is two hours behind Eastern time. The two men crossed from Arizona briefly into Utah before entering Colorado.
In the day one recap video on the ZOE International website, a member of the overnight crew said that he men had “run into quite a bit of heat,” in the Arizona desert, but still looked strong.
Also noted in the day one recap email was that, as the only entry in this year’s two-man category, Ortenzi and Martin are focusing more on their reason for riding than a podium finish.
As of 5:11 p.m. Eastern time, the team was in La Plata County, Colorado, at route mile 866.7. The riders were about 50 miles from their next waypoint, in Pagosa Springs.
While the men kept racing, on the livestream, the ZOE International team brought former rider Kevin Quinter on to chat about the group and his experience riding in the 2025 RAAM.
“What kept us going … was the kids,” Quinter said of his experience as a rider. “… If it rescues one child or saves one person, then it’s worth it.”
Not only did Quinter appear, but the team also featured David Cross, the CEO of ZOE International Australia. He spoke of his history and how he got started with ZOE International. He also chatted about what trafficking looks like, and how it is handled in Australia.
