The Bryant Conference Center hosted the 10th annual Alabama Hall of Fame Boxing Show on Saturday.
The 2026 class added nine new members to the HOF under five different categories: pro boxer Larry Marks, amateur boxers Napolean Cleveland and Lem Franklin, old timer Bob Scanlon, manager/trainer/promoters Charlie Hutchinson, Roy Jones Sr. and Oliver Miller, and support personnel Gerald Allen and Jeff Dodson.
“I think it’s huge what boxing has become around here,” Alabama HOF Boxing promoter Jay Deas said. “Tonight, with the Hall of Fame show it’s the past, present and future. The past our the Hall of Famers, the present are the guys in the ring and the future are the golden glove fighters that are here to watch so, it’s all coming together all in one night.”
A live 8-bout pro fight card was part of the evening, with local boxers Ke’Eric Hinton, Andre Harris and Deon Nicholson all winning their respective fights.
“We work hard every day for each and every opportunity in-state and out of state, but to come back home and put on a show for our friends and our family it means a lot,” Hinton said. “It really gives us a reason to keep pushing forward and keep chasing our goals.”
Tuscaloosa native and former heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder was in attendance to watch his sparring partners such as London boxer Isaac Chamberlain compete. Wilder was inducted into the HOF back in 2017.
The event also included a silent auction with signed items donated by Wilder and other members of the HOF.
