Thirteen years after their surprise wedding in Las Piñas, trust Zoren Legaspi to pull all the stops just to amaze his wife, Carmina Villarroel — this time, on her 50th birthday, surrounded by their loved ones and closest friends.
Villarroel, in a royal blue one-shouldered dress, was visibly surprised upon seeing her friends in a surprise party pulled off by her husband and twin children, Cassy and Mavy, at a posh events place in Taguig. The actress turned a year older on Sunday, August 17.

The actress then blew out the candles on her white fondant birthday cake with flowers and gold decor, sang onstage, and danced the night away, as seen in clips shared on Cassy, Mavy, and Zoren’s Instagram Stories.
Among the celebrities seen at the intimate gathering were Ashley Ortega, Aiko Melendez, Ruffa Gutierrez, Karla Estrada, and vlogmates, Candy Pangilinan, and sisters Gelli and Janice de Belen. Also in attendance were Eric Quizon, Richard Yap, and former Sen. Grace Poe, who was also their wedding principal sponsor.
The white-themed party has an open mic stage where everybody is enjoined to sing — yet another dream-come-true for Villarroel, who has always wanted to have a concert party. Guests were noticeably all dressed in white, while the stage reverberated with music as the Legaspi family and guests take turns to use the mic.

‘New journey, greatest blessing’
Moments after Villarroel’s birthday party, Zoren took to his Instagram page to express his excitement for his wife’s new journey as a 50-year-old woman.

“[Fifty] years of stories, lessons, and battles won. Now, a new journey unfolds—with us, @cassy @mavylegaspi, and close friends, by your side, God willing, until the very end,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Mavy looked back at some of his unforgettable moments with Villarroel on his Instagram page, describing her as the “light” of their family and the “soul of [their] home.”
“[Fifty], looking 21… You are the heart of our family, the soul of our home, and the greatest blessing I’ve ever known. You are the hardest working, kindest & most loving person in this world. She is what we call ‘home,’ and she is the glue that holds and keeps this family together,” he wrote.

‘Hating Kapatid’ family’s surprise bash
Villarroel was also treated to another surprise party on the set of “Hating Kapatid,” which was uploaded on her Instagram page on Saturday, August 16. Clips showed the actress being visibly surprised by the staff of the afternoon drama, where she was given a flower bouquet, several birthday cakes, and even a spread of food.

“Awwwww! Thank you so much my ‘Hating Kapatid’ family. Nagulat ako talaga (I really got surprised). Got teary eyed! Love you all,” she captioned her post along with emojis of hearts and a teary-eyed expression.

This is not the first time for Villarroel to be surprised by her loved ones.
In November 2012, she happily accepted the marriage proposal of Zoren during a supposed “family product photoshoot” at Fernbrook Gardens in Las Piñas City — only for it to turn out to be their wedding day as well. /edv
