Things were worse than they originally appeared.
Now, body-camera footage has surfaced, painting a much more disturbing picture of what happened before “The Diamond” was taken into custody.
According to TMZ Sports, Poirier was booked at 6:38 p.m. ET and released a few hours later, around 10:15 p.m. ET. His mugshot has since been released; however, today (Tues., June 23, 2026), Atlanta Police Department body-camera footage was released, showing the harrowing moments that led to his arrest.
“What’s up, big dog? A bunch of hoes,” Poirier said as a police officer entered the empty airport area. “Let’s go. A bunch of lying motherf—kers. They pulled me off the plane, a bunch of my boys went to the crib, and now, what the f—k?”
When the officer asked, “Are you Dustin Poirier?” Poirier snapped back.
“Man, f—k you, bro,” Poirier said. “F—k you, f—k her, f—k her.”
Poirier then took off his backpack and appeared to challenge the officer.
“I’ll fight you right now,” Poirier said. “I’ll go with you right now. Let’s go.”
As the officer radioed for assistance, Poirier continued escalating the situation.
“Yeah, tell them to come on,” Poirier said. “It’s going to be bad. It’s going to be bad, my n—-a.”
The officer continued backing up, repeatedly telling Poirier to relax and making it clear that he did not want to fight. Eventually, the officer pulled out his taser as Poirier kept moving toward him.
“You gonna tase me?” Poirier asked. “You gonna tase me, dog? I’m gonna bang you up.”
Once another officer arrived, the video later cut to Poirier surrendering and putting his hands behind his back. A few seconds later, the body-camera footage cut again to Poirier giving the officer a fist bump and telling him he, “did a great job.”
And honestly, Poirier was kind of right about that last part.
Based on what was shown in the body-camera footage, the responding officer did a really good job keeping the situation from getting even worse. Poirier was clearly agitated, intoxicated and looking for a confrontation, and with a more aggressive officer, things could have turned very ugly, very quickly.
Poirier has not commented in detail on the arrest or the body-camera footage. Shortly after news broke, though, he posted a brief message on Instagram.
“Love you all,” Poirier wrote. “I’m working on myself.”
It was a rough, ugly look for one of the most beloved fighters of his era.
