Dangerfield ends the Cats’ perfect start
Oh no, Patrick Dangerfield has blotted the Cats’ copy book!
Danger takes a diving mark and has a set shot directly in front from 20m out but hits the post.
He’ll be very disappointed with that.

Cameron gets his third after Blicavs’ big mark
Jeremy Cameron snaps through his third after a handball from Mark Blicavs!
Blicavs took an excellent contested mark 30m out from goal, and as he walks back to his mark to take a set shot, he notices Cameron lurking, and decides to dish it off.
That is like shelling peas for Jezza.
The Cats now 7.0 to 1.3 on scores from the defensive half.

Higgins strikes after high fend-off from O’Connor
Another messy moment in defence for the Cats!
This is very similar to the Tom Stewart one from the first quarter, Mark O’Connor picks up the loose ball and seems to think he’s got way more time than he actually had.
After breaking through one tackle, O’Connor tries to spin out of a Jack Higgins tackle, but he catches Higgins high with a fend and gives away the free kick.
Higgins, a right-footer, decides to snap on the left from directly in front. He kicks it, but I cannot understand these footy players sometimes.

Martin skies high and kicks another one
Jack Martin is so good aerially isn’t he?
Mannagh sends another ball inside 50 after a lovely sidestep on the wing, and Martin skies over a couple of Saints defenders to take a terrific mark 25m out from goal.
He makes no mistake on the easy set shot, and keeps Geelong a perfect 8.0.
Every time the Saints get within 20 points, the Cats respond straight away.

Owens with the quick response for the Saints
It’s goal-for-goal in this second quarter!
Mitch Owens takes a mark on the lead 45m out from goal and once again finishes beautifully on the set shot from a slight angle.
The Saints just hanging around here. Geelong’s lead back down to 15 points.

Cameron responds with his own brilliant finish
Oh this is so, so, so good from Jeremy Cameron!
This game has certainly gone up a notch after quarter time.
Cameron runs down a loose ball inside 50 and turns onto his left boot while tucked into the pocket, and threads the needle from an acute angle.
That’s why he’s the leader for the Coleman Medal at the moment. Not many players can finish that.
14m agoSun 20 Jul 2025 at 3:59amWood with his own magical dribble!
Oh this might be better than the Mannagh goal in the first quarter!
This is an incredible finish from Mason Wood.
Wanganeen-Milera misses him on a lead into the pocket, but Wood does brilliantly to pick it up, and then he dribbles it home from the tightest of angles.
The crowd getting treated to some excellent finishes at that end of the ground today!

Heath misses an early chance in the second
Max Heath with a set shot miss that you’ve simply got to kick at this level.
He was just 35m out on a slight angle, but hooks it left.
Nevertheless, the Saints have started better so far in this quarter.

An excellent quarter of footy is in the books for the Cats, who take a comfortable and well-deserved 22-point lead into the first change.
That’s as dangerous as the Cats have looked all season going forward and they looked like scoring almost every time the entered their forward 50.
The smalls are all up and about, with Stengle, Mannagh and Martin all on the scoreboard.
Geelong holds a 14-12 edge in the inside 50 count, while the Saints lead 16-6 in clearances, including a 12-2 edge at stoppages.
Chris Scott will want to get that cleaned up for sure.
Wanganeen-Milera leads all players with 13 disposals and five clearances, while Ollie Dempsey was Geelong’s leading ball-winner in the first term with 10 touches.

Owens keeps Saints in touch before quarter time
Mitch Owens drills a set shot from 40m out on a slight angle as the Saints continue to hang around.
A lovely kick inside 50 from Jack Sinclair to find Owens open for the uncontested mark.
If the Saints can turn convert their clearance dominance into territory, they can get right back into this match.

Stengle joins in on the Cats party
Another brilliant transition for the Cats after a Tom Stewart intercept!
A big handball over the top from Mannagh finds Tyson Stengle wide open in acres of space, and Stengle snaps truly.
Five of Geelong’s scores (5.0) have come from their defensive half.
They are also 4.0 on turnovers.

Wanganeen-Milera gets Saints on the board after terrific tackle
This is how you get back into the game!
Tom Stewart tries to charge out of defence and meets a wall featuring Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Jack Steele. You’re not breaking through that no matter how good you are.
NWM goes back and drills the easy set shot from 20m out directly in front.
He leads all players with 10 disposals and also has four tackles and four clearances to go along with the goal.

Dangerfield strikes after 50m penalty
A bad start becomes worse for St Kilda!
Patrick Dangerfield takes a diving mark on his knees on the 50m arc and is pushed to the ground by Anthony Caminiti.
The umpire blows the whistle for a 50m penalty, and that’s getting paid every day of the week.
Very undisciplined stuff from Caminiti, you can’t be doing that.

Mannagh doubles up from inside the square
Jack Martin is doing some really, really good stuff in the forward line!
He takes another mark inside 50, this time deep in the pocket, and unselfishly centres it to find Shaun Mannagh in the goalsquare.
Mannagh doesn’t need a miraculous bounce this time, as he slots the easy set shot.
Geelong right on top here. They lead the inside 50s 10-4 and have 20 more disposals than St Kilda. This is despite the Saints holding a 11-3 edge in the clearance count.
47m agoSun 20 Jul 2025 at 3:26amMannagh gets a magical bounce from the pocket
Shaun Mannagh with an off-spinner that Murali would be proud of!
Lovely stuff from the Cats forwards with the ball at the ground level as Stengle picks one up cleanly and dishes off to Mannagh.
Mannagh is tucked into the pocket on the wrong side for a right footer and he snaps it into the square and the ball bounces almost at a right angle to go through for the Cat’s third.

Martin squeezes home his set shot snap
Jack Martin is on the board!
A horrible turnover coming out of defence from Brad Hill as his kick finds a wide open Ollie Dempsey.
Dempsey then sends the ball back inside 50 and Martin takes a terrific contested mark.
He’s on a bit of an angle, but on the right side for a right footer, and the ball just sneaks through on the snapped set shot.
Geelong leading despite the Saints having a 6-1 edge in clearances so far.

Cameron finally opens Geelong’s account
We’ve finally got a goal and of course it’s Jeremy Cameron!
After Steele’s missed chance, the Cats transition beautifully and there’s some unselfish stuff in the forward 50 as Jack Martin hands off to Cameron, who snaps through his first of the afternoon.
Geelong’s foot skills are so, so good to watch.

Steele can’t make the distance on set shot
Jack Steele has his head in his hands!
The Saints skipper’s got a set shot directly in front from 40m out and there’s no one on the goal line for St Kilda.
Steele incredibly fails to make the distance and Rhys Stanley takes an easy intercept mark a couple of metres out from goal.
Bizarre stuff.
So the wait continues on for the first score.

Tauru manning Cameron in the opening minutes
Still no score for either side through the first three minutes here in Geelong.
Alix Tauru has been tasked with the match-up on Jeremy Cameron, Geelong’s trump card.
What an experience this is going to be for the young Saint.
He’s already won a big one-on-one in the air against Cameron.
