Tech giants such as Google and Meta could be forced to reveal the content they use to train their AI models, in a bid to help Australian publishers and creative professionals enforce copyright law under a policy being considered by Attorney-General Michelle Rowland.
With content creators pitted against well-resourced tech multinationals, Labor is also considering a new enforcement regime that would make it easier for small copyright holders to be compensated for their work, according to several sources familiar with the government’s thinking but not authorised to speak publicly.
