New Zealand Rugby CFO Chris Kinraid said that a decision on buying back Silver Lake’s investment is “to be decided in time,” according to Samuel Sherry of the NEW ZEALAND HERALD. NZR’s provincial unions signed off on the initial NZ$200M (US$134M) Silver Lake deal in 2022. Kinraid was “asked about what financial decisions he might have to make” after taking on the role in February. He said that the aim was to “make NZR a sustainable” organization. Kinraid said, “We’ll have aspects that we’ll have to look at closely for the long-term viability and sustainability of rugby in New Zealand in total.” He then described Silver Lake as a “great partner.” He added that “not much is actively being done regarding their relationship.” NZR Chair David Kirk in May said that the organization had “considered buying out the Silver Lake investment but that would likely have to come in the form of a new loan” (NEW ZEALAND HERALD, 6/24).
