True story of Kathleen Folbigg, wrongfully convicted of murdering her four infant children, to become a drama series.
EXCLUSIVE:
See-Saw Films (The Great White, Slow Horses, Heartstopper) is in development on a legal drama series on Kathleen Folbigg, the Australian woman who was wrongfully convicted of murdering her four infant children in 2003.
From writer Alice Bell (Expats, Offspring, The Beautiful Lie, Puberty Blues), the series features the remarkable Australians across science, law and community who dedicated years to proving Folbigg’s innocence.
Folbigg was 36 years old when she was sent to prison for the deaths of her four children – Caleb, Patrick, Sarah and Laura – who all died in mysterious circumstances between the ages of 19 days and 19 months.
In 2023 with just five years remaining on her sentence, Folbigg was dramatically released after new scientific evidence uncovered a possible alternative explanation for the children’s deaths.
She was pardoned after 20 years in jail following a long campaign for justice by her supporters, and had her convictions overturned on appeal a few months later.
It isn’t yet clear if a broadcaster for the series could be a Free to Air network or a streaming platform such as Netflix or Prime Video.
