Newcastle as Chief of Staff is promoted to State News Director at NBN.
WIN Television has appointed Olivia Dillon as NBN State News Director.
She succeeds Darius Winterfield, who recently rejoined Nine News Sydney.
Originally from Tamworth, Dillon joined the NBN Newsroom in Newcastle as Chief of Staff and News Editor at the end of 2023.
WIN said in a statement, “In her role as Chief of Staff, Olivia has demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to local journalism.
“Olivia’s passion for local news, deep understanding of the challenges facing regional broadcasters in an evolving media landscape, and the respect she has earned from her colleagues make her an outstanding choice for this leadership role.
“She is a dedicated journalist and a strong advocate for regional communities, and she will continue to lead with integrity, vision and a genuine commitment to delivering quality local news for audiences across Northern NSW.”
The appointment comes at a time of major changes at NBN, having recently changed hands from Nine to WIN with a local bulletin screening from 5:30pm, and weekend news bulletins replaced with Nine’s Sydney news.
