OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) — Former NBA player Dale Brown is hosting his annual basketball camp in Jackson County this week, giving children ages 6 to 17 the chance to learn from players with college and professional experience.
Brown played at Pascagoula High School before going on to play for the Kentucky Wildcats and the Sacramento Kings. He has run the camp for nearly 20 years.
“The good lord blessed me to play basketball at the highest level so I just like to come home and help them out as much as I can,” Brown said.

The camp draws first-time attendees as well as returning participants. Hunter Frierson, a seventh-grader, said he has attended the camp every year.
“Ever since I’ve been coming here, it has helped me with my dribbling and my shooting skills,” Frierson said. “They were in the NBA, so they know more than me and most likely everybody here. That can help me and everyone here.”
