Courteney Cox has reportedly split from her partner of over a decade, Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid.

Cox, 62, and McDaid, 49, had been in a relationship since 2013, having announced their engagement just one year after they began dating.

Reports have emerged this morning that the long-term relationship has come to an end, though insiders reveal it was not an “ugly” split.

The Mail on Sunday was the first to report the news, with an insider assuring that they remain friends and their split was amicable, and that it only came about because the two felt they were living different lives. People has also confirmed the split.

The couple first met at a party in Los Angeles when they were introduced by their mutual friend, Ed Sheeran. McDaid has worked as a songwriter on many of Sheeran’s hits, including Shape Of You and Galway Girl.

The Friends star and the musician announced their engagement in June 2014, but briefly separated in late 2015 when they called off their engagement, before reconciling in 2016.

In 2024, Cox recalled the moment McDaid had broken up with her during the first five minutes of their joint therapy session

Speaking to Minnie Driver on the Minnie Questions podcast, the Scream star said, “We went to this therapist to talk about our boundaries – what we could and couldn’t accept of each other.

“I was like, ‘What?’ And we were engaged. And I was so shocked. I was in so much pain. I also don’t like surprises!

“There was that much that needed to be dealt with, that he had to protect himself around his heart.”

Cox previously said she was “thankful” for the momentary split as she thought it made their relationship even stronger.

The couple were last spotted in public last September as they attended the US Open together. One month before that, they notably went on a double date with Cox’s Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston and her boyfriend, wellness expert Jim Curtis.

McDaid is reportedly in the early stages of a new relationship.
